Five University of Ottawa scientists land Canada Research Chairs and more than $4.6 million in grants
OTTAWA, October 2, 2008 — The University of Ottawa is happy to be hosting one new Canada Research Chair and to see four more of them renewed, adding $4.6 million to its research portfolio.
M. Andrew Pelling has won the new research chair in experimental cell mechanics. A graduate of both the University of Toronto and the University of California, he has worked at the London Centre for Nanotechnology and at the Centre for Nanomedicine, University College London.
"The partnership between the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Canada Research Chairs Program allows universities nation-wide, ours included, to recruit eminent researchers from around the world and to retain these internationally renowned scholars right here on campus," said Allan Rock, president and vice-chancellor of the University.
