2007 Recipient - David Wright
Chancellor's scholarship 2007-2008 (Engineering)
David Wright, a graduate of Haliburton Highlands Secondary school has joined the University’s Faculty of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. He has always felt achieving honours to be of the utmost importance – and has done so consistently since Grade 7. He has won awards such as the year three Physics Award, silver and bronze standing in the 2005 Galois Mathematics Contest, and received highest marks in his Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus class. Wright was a peer tutor for several years and also participated in public speaking competitions where he won several prizes. Outside of academics, Wright was first/lead trumpet in the school band, takes private piano lessons, and also plays the guitar and is a member of the Wright Family Band. He has also been involved with the chess program and volunteered as a tournament manager and server representative for an online chess server where he ran over 300 tournaments.
