2006 Recipient - Stephen A. Jarislowsky
For 50 years, Stephen Jarislowsky has directed Jarislowsky Fraser Limited, one of Canada’s largest and most successful investment management firms.
He studied at Cornell University, the University of Chicago and Harvard Business School. He has served in the U.S. Army and worked in counter-intelligence in Japan following World War II.
Mr. Jarislowsky worked briefly for Alcan Aluminium before starting Jarislowsky Fraser Limited in 1955 in Montreal. He is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
As a fund manager, his status in Canada is legendary. Mr. Jarislowsky has been active in other corporations and has participated in educational, cultural and charitable events of many kinds. He has endowed 14 University Chairs and his views and comments appear regularly in various media.
