2005 Recipient - Marisa Rossi
Rector's Scholarship 2005-2006 (Science)
Truly a budding genius, Marisa has participated in several scientific activities, including the Science and Engineering Olympiad and the Aventis Biotech Challenge, a high-profile national contest, which introduces students to the real world of biotechnology by requiring students to submit their own research proposals. As well, Marisa won first place in the Scientific Journey Essay Contest with her essay “The Embryo: Human Life or Scientific Tool?” Marisa also had an opportunity to work as an assistant lab technician in the Hypertension Unit at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Besides her interests in science, Marisa also served as Minister of External Affairs and Communication for her student’s council at the Collège catholique Samuel-Genest in Ottawa. Her leadership, commitment, school spirit and francophone merit have earned her honours.
