Chancellor's Scholarships
2001 Recipient - Basil Paul Hubbard

Not
only has Basil ranked first in school since grade nine, but he is also
involved in many charity organizations, the yearbook committee, the
chess team, a community radio station, and the tennis, track, badminton
and weightlifting clubs. According to his computer teacher, Basil's
accomplishments, both in and out of the classroom, are "attained by
hard work and a thirst for knowledge." The young man can add a new
trophy to his collection of prizes and medals, since he is also the
recipient of the U of O Faculty of Science's Undergraduate Research
Scholarship. Worth $8,000, this scholarship allowed the young man to
get a head start by doing research work in a U of O lab as early as
this summer.
