2002 Recipient - Simon Lalande

Perfectly
bilingual, Simon is active in both provincial and national politics. In
2002-2003, Simon was the president of the Fédération de la jeunesse
franco-ontarienne. He has also been a member of the executive committee
of the Entente Canada Communauté-Ontario and a board member of the
Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française. In school, Simon's
enthusiasm and effective communication skills were essential when he
captained the improvisation team, and when he held the position of
social events coordinator on the student council. In addition to his
stellar performance in his academic pursuits, Simon is a keen athlete.
He is a trainer with the Nancy Green alpine ski team at Mont St. Marie
and is also a referee for the Gloucester Soccer Association. Simon has
also been involved tutoring high school students in mathematics.
