2003 Recipient - Prateek Khatri

Prateek Khatri

Faculty of Sciences

Prateek Khatri graduated from Hillcrest High School (Ottawa, Ontario) with a near perfect grade. He finished with a 99.7 p. cent average. He achieved this while being active in his school and community. At his school, he has been part of the Student Council as class representative, treasurer and president. He was a member of the athletic association, the school band, and the Interact club, which is dedicated to humanitarian causes and world peace. He was a coordinator for a canvassing drive that raised $18,000 for the Cancer Society in 2002. He is also a four time, first place, winner of the Concours d'art oratoire French public speaking contest. In his community, he volunteered with Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa, the National Capital Commission, the Canadian Olympic Association, and the Ontario Youth Council. He attended the Hugh O'Brian Youth leadership conference and a forum on the worldwide monitoring of children's rights. Prateek is also a computer wiz. He was president of his school's Web site club. In addition, Nortel awarded him a cash prize for a Web site that he entered in a contest. Prateek gained valuable research work experience this summer at the University of Ottawa. He was one of eight high school graduates to be selected to work with a University scientific research group. He is enrolled in the Biomedical Science program and hopes to have an exciting, lifelong career in science.
